Temporary road closure scheduled for Wednesday, July 12 through Thursday, July 13

PHILADELPHIA – Lincoln Drive between Wissahickon Avenue and Ridge Avenue/Kelly Drive will be closed temporarily from approximately 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 12 until 5:00 AM Thursday, July 13, Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams announced today.  The following temporary closure is scheduled to be in effect:

  • Southbound Lincoln Drive traffic will be blocked at Wissahickon Drive.  A marked detour will carry traffic to the end of Lincoln Drive at Ridge Avenue by way of Walnut Lane.
  • Northbound traffic will be blocked at all entrances to the south end of Lincoln Drive.  No detour is provided for northbound traffic, due to the numerous entrances.  Suggested detours are Walnut Lane or Schoolhouse Lane.
  • Due to the volume of workers and equipment, pedestrian and bicycle traffic are also prohibited during this closure.

The temporary closure will allow City employees to safely work along this winding stretch of road.  This work has been scheduled for nighttime hours in order to expedite repairs and minimize the inconvenience to affected drivers, residents, and businesses.  Police Department assistance will be on call to help maintain a safe traffic flow in the area.

All work will be completed and traffic will be restored by 5:00 AM, Thursday.  The Streets Department thanks citizens in advance for their patience and cooperation during this project.
