Temporary partial closure scheduled for Tuesday, July 25 through Wednesday, July 26

PHILADELPHIA – Kelly Drive, between Hunting Park Avenue and S. Ferry Road, will be closed to all traffic during the overnight hours on Tuesday, July 25, Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams announced today.  The following temporary closure is scheduled to be in effect from approximately 9:00 PM, Tuesday until 5:00 AM, Wednesday.  If the work is completed earlier, the road will be opened ahead of schedule.

  • Southbound traffic on Kelly Drive will be stopped at South Ferry Road.  At Ridge Ave take a right to W. Indiana Ave and then a left to W. Hunting Park Ave to avoid the closure.
  • Northbound traffic on Kelly Drive will be stopped at Hunting Park Avenue.  Hunting Park Avenue can be taken to W. Allegheny Avenue. Take a left on Allegheny to Ridge Avenue – and then a right to Midvale Avenue to avoid the closure.
  • There will intermittent closures of the pedestrian/bicycle path along the river during the project.

The temporary partial closure will allow City employees to repair concrete “Jersey” barriers along the roadway.  This work has been scheduled for night time hours in order to expedite the repairs, minimize disruption to motorists and pedestrians, and provide a safe work environment for the work crew.

All work should be completed and traffic should be restored by 5:00 AM Wednesday.  For the duration of the work, Streets Department crews will make every effort to minimize the inconvenience to affected drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists.  The Streets Department thanks citizens in advance for their patience and cooperation during this project.
