Streets Department Announces Temporary Street   Closures in Center City for Sunday, February 10th
There will be temporary, intermittent street closures in Center City to accommodate a helicopter lift of heavy equipment on Sunday, February 10th   only , Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams announced today. The closures are expected to last from 4:00am to 1:00pm. The previous lift scheduled for Saturday, February 9th has been postponed. The streets will not be completely closed the entire duration but delays should be expected via intermittent closures as heavy equipment is carried overhead by the helicopter. The following streets will be impacted:                            On Street       From Street    To Street JFK Blvd.       N. Broad St.     N. 16th St. N. 15th St.     Arch St.           Market St.                  N. 16th St. Arch St.            Market St. Market St.      N. 15th St.         S. 17th St. S. 15th St.      Market St.          Chestnut St. S. 16th St.       Market St.         Chestnut St.   Adjacent cross streets will also be closed intermittently during this time. The street closures will allow for the safe delivery of the heavy equipment, and are a standard safety precaution. Due to the height of these buildings a helicopter is needed to set these units. For safety reasons and because of the nature of the work to be performed, the streets will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The lift has been scheduled for the weekend to minimize disruption to residents and businesses. Police assistance will be on hand to ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and work crews for the duration of all closures. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained.
