Saturday Closures for Roadway Maintenance: Leverington Avenue & Cresheim Valley Drive

PHILADELPHIA – Roadway maintenance is scheduled for Leverington Avenue and Cresheim Valley Drive (aka Emlen Street) on Saturday, July 20th announced Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams. Temporary roadway restrictions are in effect from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for Cresheim Valley Drive between Lincoln Drive and Allen’s Lane. Intermittent closures are in effect from 6:00 a.m. to noon for Leverington Avenue between Umbria and Main Streets. Work is weather-permitted, and if completed sooner than expected will result in the opening of both roadways earlier.

Alternate routes for Cresheim Valley Drive include Germantown Avenue, Allen’s Lane and McCallum Street. Southbound Cresheim Valley Drive will be blocked at Germantown Avenue. Emlen and Cresheim Streets will be blocked at Allen’s Lane. Lincoln Drive will be closed at Cresheim Road. Navajo Lane will be closed at Mermaid Lane.  The temporary closure will allow City employees to safely make repairs to the guiderail and trim the trees along the winding stretch of road.

The intermittent closures along Leverington Avenue may occur to allow Streets Department crews to conduct roadway maintenance work in a safe manner. Motorists are encouraged to use Green Lane as an alternate route.

Local residents will have full access to and from their homes throughout the closures. Detour routes will not be posted.  This work has been scheduled on a Saturday in order to expedite the repairs and minimize the disruption to motorists.

For the duration of the work, Streets Department crews will make every effort to minimize the inconvenience to affected drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians.  The Streets Department thanks residents in advance for their patience and cooperation during this project.
