Philly Spring Cleanup Postponed, New Date To Be Determined

PHILADELPHIA, March 17, 2020, The Philly Spring Cleanup scheduled citywide for Saturday, April 4th, has been postponed. The annual event provides an opportunity for city government, residents and organizations to partner to clean Philadelphia’s neighborhoods.

“We realize the challenges with planning this year’s program under current circumstances associated with COVID-19,” said Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams. “We look to reschedule our signature event when conditions are favorable for large groups of people to work closely together and share tools”.

The event is billed as the city’s largest single-day citywide cleanup. This year marks the 13th anniversary, with the 2020 theme, “It takes a team to make it clean”. The Department will continue to accept cleanup registrations online at phillyspringcleanup.com through April 3rd. The Philly Spring Cleanup is one of the city’s initiatives that tackles illegal dumping, littering and pushes beautification.

For over a decade, more than 11 million pounds of trash have been removed from the city and close to 600,000 pounds recycled through the Philly Spring Cleanup. For the last 12 years, the event has attracted more than 185,000 volunteers and counting.
