Night Work Detour Extended Beginning the Week of May 21

for Lincoln Drive Restoration Project

PHILADELPHIA – Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams announced an update on the construction schedule for the Lincoln Drive Restoration Project. Beginning the week of May 21, night time closures will be expanded to allow for the installation of a new sewer at Harvey Street as well as begin work in the southern section of the roadway. During the overnight hours of 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., motorists using Lincoln Drive should expect to be detoured between Ridge Avenue and Wayne Avenue (see Map below).  Because the work will involve full closures of the roadway, motorists traveling both north and south will need to use Ridge Avenue and Walnut Lane as an alternate route.

Map – Overnight lane closures from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

The contractor, A.P. Construction, Inc., began installation of the new sewer at Harvey Street during the week of May 14.

Completion of the entire Lincoln Drive Restoration Project will require day and night work.  For the majority of the project, two inbound lanes will be maintained for the morning peak hour traffic and two outbound lanes will be maintained during the evening peak hour traffic.  Night work from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. will involve full closures of the roadway during the overnight hours with signed detour routes in place.  Because of the nature of the work there will be some overnight and weekend closures of the drive and there also may be some additional lane closures during peak hours.  These events have not been scheduled yet but will be publicized in advance of the additional closures.

The Streets Department thanks the citizens in advance for their patience and cooperation during the upcoming construction phase.  Stay updated on the progress of the Lincoln Drive Restoration Project at
