Construction to Begin for Lefevre Street Bridge Project
Bridge Closure and Construction to Begin the Week of July 16

Philadelphia, PA – Lefevre Street Bridge located between Gual and Pearce Streets will be closed to traffic beginning the week of July 16, announced Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams. The complete closure is expected to remain through December 2018, with overall construction of the project lasting through Spring 2019.

Work on the project includes the complete removal of the existing Lefevre Street Bridge over the former Frankford Creek. Following deconstruction of the bridge, the area will be filled-in and a new roadway will be constructed. New sidewalks, curbs, street lights and ADA ramps will be installed. Additional utility work is also scheduled. Closure and pedestrian detour signs will be posted to direct travelers around the worksite.

The project was recently awarded to James J. Anderson. The amount of the construction contract is approximately $1.2M with the source of funds enabled by Act 89, the state transportation plan. For additional information on construction related to city bridges, visit:
