Chew Avenue Closure, Johnson Street to Washington Lane, Oct 17 - 19

PHILADELPHIA – 6300 Chew Avenue between Johnson Street and Washington Lane will be closed beginning Saturday October 17 at 8:00 a.m. through Monday October 19 at noon for roadway repairs, announced Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams. Work is weather-permitted.

Eastbound traffic will be detoured at Johnson Street. Westbound traffic will be detoured at Washington Lane. Detour signs will not be posted along Chew Avenue. Motorists are encouraged to use Germantown Avenue or Ardleigh Streets as alternative routes. SEPTA riders should plan ahead, as the full closure may impact stops along Chew Avenue.

The temporary full-closure will allow Streets Department crews to safely work along the roadway and make repairs to an existing condition.  This work has been scheduled for weekend hours in order to expedite repairs, minimize disruption to motorists, and provide a safe work environment for the workers.

All work will be completed and lanes restored by noon Monday, October 19. If the work is completed sooner than anticipated, the road will be opened ahead of schedule.  For the duration of the work, Streets Department crews will make every effort to minimize the inconvenience to residents and impacted businesses.  The Streets Department thanks residents in advance for their patience and cooperation during this project.
