STREETS DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURE IN CENTER CITY FOR SAT, JAN 27
STREETS DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURES IN CENTER CITY FOR SATURDAY, JANUARY 27
Motorists and pedestrians advised of temporary delays and detours

There will be temporary street closures in Center City to accommodate a helicopter lift of heavy equipment on Saturday, January 27, Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams announced today. The closures are expected to last from 5:00am to 2:00pm. The following streets will be impacted:

N. Broad Street between Arch St. and John F. Kennedy Blvd.
15th St. between Arch & Chestnut St.
16th St. between Arch & Chestnut St.
Market St. between 17th St. and 15th St.
John F. Kennedy Blvd between Broad Street and 17th St.
S. Penn Square between Broad & 15th St.
Ranstead St. between 15th St. and 16th St.

Adjacent cross streets will also be closed intermittently during this time. The street closures will allow for the safe delivery of the heavy equipment, and are a standard safety precaution. Due to the height of these buildings a helicopter is needed to set these units. For safety reasons and because of the nature of the work to be performed, the streets will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

The lift has been scheduled for a Saturday to minimize disruption to residents and businesses. Police assistance will be on hand to ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and work crews for the duration of all closures. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained.
