Use the form below to submit a repair request for a pothole or other street surface defect. Attaching a photo
of the problem area may assist the Streets Department in identifying the location and clarifying the scope of
the defect. Some potholes are the responsibility of the Pennsylvania Dept. of Transportation or other
utilities to repair, so your request may be forwarded to an outside agency such as PennDOT, SEPTA, or another
utility. A street defect submitted as a pothole may also be reclassified as another type of street defect and
different repair processes used to remedy the problem.
Repair times will vary depending on the severity of the problem, time of the year, and the nature of the
required repairs. The City works to get potholes patched as quickly as possible, weather permitting. The best
time for pothole repair is a dry day when the temperature is at least 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Freeze-thaw
cycles and consistent salting and plowing have a significant impact on streets during the winter. The City
deploys repair crews and pothole patcher machines as needed to repair potholes across the city. The Streets
Department's average time to repair potholes is less than 3 business days, although repair times can be
greater depending on the circumstances, such as weather conditions.
